Determining F/Pin tolerances and sizes when applied from fixture pad surfaces

INTRODUCTION

This document describes the F/Pin tolerancing and sizing strategies when applied from fixture pad surfaces. Two cases are studied, the pad surface above and below component surface.

MAIN SECTION

Tolerances: In general 10% of total part tolerance may be used for tool manufacturing as an accumulated total on all features applicable to the design. This can vary depending on the part tolerance band to give machine operator maximum benefit to achieve size easily on component. TOL#1 may equal TOL#2 (see figure 1) if situation allows this.
