Plane contact equalizer, rocking

The spherical surface of the equalizer rocks during the tightening of the knurled thump adjuster, provide a constant surface contact with the workpiece. The rocking action of the equalizer permits clamping when the reference and the clamping planes are not parallel. This correction of parallelism micro irregularities and a larger contact surface makes it ideal where point contact is not applicable.
