INTRODUCTION
This document describes functionality of the mandrel, design data, design units and complete manufacturing drawings.
MAIN SECTION
The collet mandrel is composed from the fixed expander, the moving expander, the collet and the actuating nut. The moving expander is forced by the actuating nut. Both parts are coaxial with the fixed expander. The collet is a hardened steel sleeve having slits cut partway along its length and forming flexible jaws whose ends are brought close to each other. The outside diameter of the collet must correspond to the workpiece cylindrical hole. The collet rests on the fixed expander and when the moving expander forces it against the fixed it expands and clamps the workpiece.
