INTRODUCTION
This document describes functionality of the fixture, design data, design units and complete manufacturing drawings.
MAIN SECTION
The internal positioner is very simple. It composed mainly by two components, the fixture body and the rest pad body. The second rotates inside the first. A compression springs forces the rest pad body to rotate and spread its lower end out. This rotation is limited by a limit pin (dowel pin) placed on the upper end of the component. When the workpiece is loaded, it passes through the rest pad (upper end) and strikes the beveled lower end (cam) of the rest pad body. The rest pad body acts like a rocker arm, moving its upper end into the recess of the workpiece. When the rest pad contacts the recess surface the workpiece is ready for clamping. In the unclamping operation when the part is raised, the lower end of the rest pad body is moved to the left by the compression spring and the upper end is moved to the right.
