Spring guiding stem

spring guiding stem

Although compression springs can bend along their axis, this bending under dynamic loading conditions will drive to increased stresses. In order to secure that compression springs will not be under bending during operation we provide our design with a spring guiding stem. With this guiding stem (see figure above) the spring operates only under the compression forces and the stem rotates around its spherical surface allows a small axial misalignment of the spring. Especially in the case of an assy between a lever - cam follower and a plate cam (where the lever rotation forces the spring into bending), this guiding stem with its base- adapter is very useful. Compression springs are heavy preloaded in order to prevent a slip between the cam and the cam follower, thus the spring stresses are large and an extra bending can break the spring easily.
