C-washer nut

by Lampros Georgiou - 31.1.2006

fixtures / c-washer nut

When we use bolts and nuts in fixtures we must always keep in mind the average time required to secure the workpiece. Usually in production the average time when using a screw clamp (by wrench) is 4.5 seconds. The C-washer provides a quick release of the workpiece and the C-washer nut reduces the amount of the hand tools. This nut has a built-in handle that can remain in standing position (see figure below). This feature allows the workpiece to slide over the handle and be positioned faster. The handle has a small peg in its one side. This peg prevents the handle from falling down. The user needs only to untighten the nut in order to remove the C-washer. After that he can leave the handle standing up and replace the workpiece.
