Gear –Lever Mechanism

The Gear- Lever Mechanism is a simple kinematical transducer. It converts the oscillation of the input lever to various oscillations of the output lever. It is named gear – lever because combines gear and lever motion.

Simplified cardan-gear mechanism

Cardan-gear mechanisms are expensive due to their internal gears. Because this cardan-gear mechanism uses only spur gear it is very simple in manufacturing and less expensive.

Hand wheels and manually operated drives in assembly machines

Manually operated drive mechanisms are used in assembly machines in order to perform an anti-jamming failure, or to check the mechanical movements during calibrating and maintenance.

Cam actuated power sources for clamp post

The cam actuated power source for clamp post is capable for delivering high push-pull loads with relative small movement. The high push-pull loads are needed for the large clamping forces which holding the workpiece during machining. This article describes some design versions of this kind of power source.

Indexing with servo motors

Using servo motors for indexing and controlling the rotation or transportation is common in fixture, packaging and automation design. This article describes what really a design engineer needs to know for a servo motor unit in order to complete his designs.

Pinion with a single rectangular tooth

The pinion with a single rectangular tooth is a simple way to translate rotation to linear movement. Normally is used with a hand lever in order to actuate a plunger or something that requires small movements. This article describes the required data for geometrical design.

Mechanical overload safety

Mechanical overloads caused by material jams, operator error, mechanical damage during operation or improper maintenance. Mechanical overloads can be categorized as rotary and linear motion overloads. This article describes simple linear motion overload safety.

Tongue and Groove

Torque transmission, shaft alignment, position locking and others are some examples of numerous applications where a non rotating assembly is needed. The tongue and groove design is ideal where there is a lack of space.

Shoulder (low cost design)

Shoulders provide a positive rest for components in fixed joints or an abutment for axial displacement of parts in movable connections. Usually are made as a feature on the shaft. A low cost design for light parts and low forces is presented in this article.

Spring guiding stem

Springs are very useful in mechanical engineering. In order to increase the life of a compression spring, correct guiding of the spring must be provided.
